Children in Need, BBC Points West Special – Hair and Makeup Artist for Andy Day

As you can imagine, being a makeup artist allows me the opportunity to work with some great TV personalities, and over the years I have had the honour of working with Andy Day. You may know him from his show ‘Andy’s Wild Adventures’ and you most certainly will if you have young children.

We recently worked together for a Children in Need special for BBC Points West with the fantastic Alex Lovell who was interviewing Andy and local children involved in the fundraising. It was a live TV broadcast which is always fun as there’s the added adrenaline for everyone as there is no ‘take 2’.

Andy is a fantastic presenter to work with and we always have a good laugh on set. For Andy’s makeup, I use a very light base and a little powder if necessary, just to reduce any shine under the studio lighting. Andy has an amazing head of hair which I sometimes spritz with water to separate the curls but generally, I just leave it to do its own thing!

It is always a pleasure and an honour to work with Andy, and my young son was especially impressed when Andy gave him his pair of Pudsey ears which he’d worn on TV.
