Wow! What a fantastic opportunity… I have very recently had the pleasure of doing the makeup for Caroline Lucas for the Green Party Political broadcast.
I have actually looked after Caroline before on the BBC show ‘Question Time’ so was delighted to meet her again last week.
The film is being aired on BBC and ITV this week and the style is quite different to the usual party political broadcast as we shot it very close up and in black and white. Igor, the director, wanted a new and powerful way of connecting with the audience and the makeup for Caroline needed to be very minimal so as not to distract from the message.
I used a very light foundation, just enhanced the eyebrows a little and set with a lovely light reflecting powder to keep the skin looking fresh and luminous.
I am personally concerned about the environment as well, so it was great to work with someone who is devoted to making the changes we need for our future. My next blog post is about the steps I am taking to make my business as a makeup artist more sustainable.
